questions about EC..

What if I have really good grades (about 8 AP classes, unweighted GPA 3.8, 2100-2300 SAT scores) but no IMPACTIVE ECs..

I do have few ECs but they are not really impactive..
participated in few clubs for 4 years(didn't get good leadership position... just some office positions) , went interships every summer.. and some volunteering...and that's it.

I didn't know ECs are that much important so I only concentrated in getting good grades..
Do you guys think I can try for IVYs?

Grades are more important in admissions.

Why not?

Some people say my ECs are too weak…
they it would be REALLY hard to get into IVY for me because of my EC.

Are these people currently admissions officers for the colleges you’re looking at? If not, then why do you think they know what they’re talking about?

Ok? It’s “really hard” for most anyone to get into very selective schools.

Seeing as you don’t sound very excited about what you’ve done in terms of clubs/internships (which is sad to hear), do you have any hobbies or other interests you’ve spent a good deal of time on? If so, put them down. (unless it’s WoW, haha).

It’s very hard to get into ivies period. Certainly for HYP, off the chart EC achievement is key. For the others, if you have strong stats (75th percentile across the board), I wouldn’t let weak ECs stop me from applying. Just look how little space the common app gives you to list them. If you have a passion for something and can communicate it, you have a fighting chance.

Never know until you apply.
