Questions about ECs

I was just wanting some feedback about whether I should include the following as part of extracurricular activities/hobbies somewhere on my applications:

Played soccer for 14 years (quit in junior year because I found out that I'm much better at cross country, lol)
Played basketball for 8 years as a child
Helped mother with her political campaign (county level)
Avid runner: I run, on average, 45 miles per week throughout the year, only taking off about 2 weeks per year. Also have done a few indoor track meets in the winter and 5K/10K races over the summer

I plan on writing my essays about how my dedication to running led to dedication with my grades as well.

Thanks for any feedback you may be able to give!

Soccer - I would only include the high school years, maybe somehow wrap the other years into your essay about dedication?

Basketball - Don’t include. Colleges really won’t care if you played intramural basketball pre-high school.

Campaign - include if you helped in real ways, not a middle school mommy’s assistant role.

Runner - include. Essay sounds like it could be worked into a good topic.

^I disagree. I think you should include all of it, except the political campaign. I’m not sure about that one

ok guys thanks for the responses. I think your right about basketball. I WAS dedicated to the sport but hated the varsity team (coaches were jerks) so I quit after 9th grade. And I might not mention the political campaign aid either. I didn’t do a ton but I helped out with things here and there. I’m really dedicated to running, though, so I intend to write my essays about it :)
