Counselor gave me a ELC packet saying top 10 percent of class gets it. It holds your spot for Low tier uc schools. I was wondering if just by signing the letter you are admitted to the ELC program. Or do you go through an evaluating process

I remember elc last year. It was like top 4% are guaranteed to some UC. Right? hmm dunno i don't remember. I was like top 12.5% thingy.

I recieved the same package two years ago. Like 88888888 said, it was 4% back then. As I recall, signing it gives the UCs permission to look at your records so they can decide if they want you or not. After reviewing your grades, individual UCs will send you their letters telling you that you have some sort of "guaranteed admission" into their campus. I recieved letters from Davis, UCSB, and Riverside. UCSD sent me a letter too.. but they just said that after reviewing my record, they "encouraged me to apply" (they didn't guarantee me admission)-- but whatever, I got in anyways.

yup, top 4%. i didnt sign anything... i didnt even know about it. i just got a letter saying i qualified, then received guaranteed admission into ucd, ucsb, uci (in certain majors), ucr, & ucm. i was invited to apply to ucsd but i didn't get in. i think it's very nice to have considering the fact that uc's seem to be more competitive now & it doesnt make it any better that the school budgets are being cut.
