Questions about engineering

I’m interested in studying BME at UT and will most likely apply, but I’ve read plenty of advice columns and articles about how it is not the wisest major to choose for undergrad. I’m not really looking to go to med school and would rather go to graduate school and actually work as an engineer in the field. I heard that the major is spread too thin and only provides a superficial understanding of all the disciplines that are jammed into a four-year program. I was wondering how much truth there is to this regarding UT’s BME program?

I also noticed that ChemE, EE, and MechE all have biomedical-related concentrations. Would it be better to major in one of these and then perhaps proceed to graduate school for BME? How does the curriculum/difficulty/opportunities of ChemE (concentrating on biotechnology) compare to those of BME?

Finally, I’m really interested in the Plan II honors program and will definitely apply! Is is possible/practical to study BME or ChemE while simultaneously doing Plan II?

Thank you!

Bump as an incoming ChemE major hoping to do the biomed track.

Bump!!
