I was wondering on the short answer essays if 350 words is too long. My second question is that I was looking over the US News & World Report College Directory and under factors that count in admissions it said that the essays are "considered" which is the third ranking followed by very important and important. I was wondering if essays are "considered" for out-of-state students or does UM weigh essays more on a out-of-state app? Thanks.

If you are told to keep it under 250, it pretty much means you should not exceed 250 by much. I would certainly not go over 300.

As far as the importance of the essays, obviously, Michigan wants to see a lucit and well thought out essay that shows that you have given the question some thought. It does not have to be perfect, as long as it is to the point. As long as you write well, do not make spelling mistakes and present yourself as a tolerant person interested in learning, your essays will not be counted against you...or for you.

Oh, I see. I try to cut it down. So, basically if my essays are ok-good they'll won't help me or hurt me. Thanks. By the way what are you doing up this late Alex, isn't it like one in the morning there...LOL.

One thirty...and I am up because I was watching Michigan beat Illinois! Bo Blue baby!!!

So yes, if you can shorten your essay a little you will be set.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Oh yeah. I watched that as well. THe first half gave me a bit of a scare, but I knew UM would pull it out. Thanks
