Hi there! I am an incoming sophomore who attends a cyber-charter school (it’s a blended on-line and on-site school). Because my school is designed for students who live across the state, there are very little clubs/extra-curricular activities (NHS, student government, and a few minor clubs). I was wondering if I should consider joining clubs at my local brick-and-mortar high school.
I can confirm that the school district allows me to participate in clubs/sports; however, I’m looking for opinions on how I’ll be judged, and if I’ll be accepted by others. I think only one or two of the rare, local home-schooled/cyber school students participate, if any at all. I am really interested in DECA, but I’m afraid that club is “reserved” for popular, outgoing students who actually attend that high school.
Please let me know what you think, and if possible, any other ideas for extracurriculars that will help when I apply for colleges. Thank you!
If I’m honest, I say go for it! If you’re only going to see these people at club meetings then who cares if they like you or not? I know kids can be mean but if you really want to be in a club or whatever then just forget them and be in the club. Heck, be the president of the club.
