Questions about Financial aid at California Community College for UC Incoming Freshman

I’ll begin attending a UC in Fall 2015, and I wanted to take a single summer class at my local CCC before that (it’ll be a four credit equivalent for my university). What I’d like to know is if getting a Board of Governors waiver or sending my FAFSA to the community college will at all affect my financial aid at the UC. Obviously, I’d like to be able to pay less for the community college class if possible, but if it turns out to hurt my financial aid for my four-year college, then I’ll settle for paying full price. Any relevant information is appreciated. Thank you.

Edit: I’ll call my university’s financial aid office just to be sure of everything, but it’s hard to get through at the moment so I wanted to ask here beforehand.

If you aren’t a matriculated student at the CC, you won’t be able to get any federal aid.

Okay, that simplifies some things. Thank you. Will I still be able to apply for the Board of Governors waiver?

I do not believe so, you likely are going to have to pay for the CC class out of pocket - since I believe the BOG waiver is connected to your eligibility for financial aid. Follow up with your school to confirm.

All right. Thank you for your help.
