Questions About Financial Aid pck from RHODES

I got my FA pck two days ago and the total amount of it is 18,600 yer year, including 16,600 grant and 2,000 employment. But my FC is about 28,000 and the expected expenses of attending RHODES is 49,000, it is a little difficult for my family to make RHODES afforable. Is there any way to arise my FA pck?? Sould I send E-mail to FA??

Rhodes doesn’t meet need.

Do you have very high stats for the school? If so, you may have some negotiating power. If your stats are good, but not super for the school, the school may not have any incentive to give you more.

It looks like Rhodes may not give much/any consideration to Writing on the SAT. So, if your M+CR is in the 1400s+ or your ACT is a 32+, the school might give you more money. Do you have better offers from similarly ranked schools?

SAT Critical Reading: 590 - 700
SAT Math: 590 - 690
SAT Writing: - -
ACT Composite: 26 - 30

What was your FAFSA EFC?

COA = 49,000,
Aid = 18,600 yer year, including 16,600 grant and 2,000 employment.
FC = 28,000

Were you given $5500 in student loans in your FA package? If not, are you an American or Green Card Resident?

How much can your family spend?

What other affordable schools did you apply to?

Edited to add…I see that you’re an int’l student…therefore, no fed student loans. It seems to me that when int’ls apply to schools that would normally put $5500 in loans in a domestic student’s FA package, the schools seem to have an unspoken expectation that an int’l student is going to have to get a similar loan from his own country/sources.

My SAT is a little low -1810 (CR480 M710 W620)

If those are your stats, they aren’t high enough for a school to be inspired to give you more money. You can try, but don’t expect much.

@mom2collegekids Thanks for the advice. It seems like I don’t stand a chance of getting more FA, but I want to try. What I am worried is that will RHODES withdraw my offer (because of my low SAT and asking for more money)??

No, your offer is good. However you do need to sit down with your parents and figure out whether or not Rhodes is at all affordable for you if the aid package doesn’t change. If you have any other offers, you can use this calculator to compare them: [FinAid | Calculators | Award Letter Comparison Tool](<a href=“Your Guide for College Financial Aid - Finaid”>Award Letter Requirements - Finaid)
