Questions about GPA and W's

Hello all,

I'm pretty much clueless about how the university admissions process works so please bear with me. I'm enrolled in the Transfer Admission Guarantee program to UCSD at my community college. You need a 3.5 GPA. Up until last semester, since graduating HS back in '09, I hadn't taken one transferable class and got a bunch of bad grades (a few C's and D's) and W's (like 8 of them; I know, right?) for those classes. Am I right in assuming those grades/withdrawals won't affect me since they aren't transferable? Any replies will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I would assume so.

W’s aren’t really considered at UC’s for undergrad (I think they actually consider them when you’re applying for grad school but I’m not sure) and they only look at your transferable GPA. This is what several UC admins told me when they visited my CCC.

Ah, okay. Just wanted to make sure. Thank you both for your replies.
