Questions about Groton?

Thanks for your thoughts on that question. I know it is not an easy one for anyone to answer. Here is an easier one. Did you receive a thin or thick acceptance letter/package?

well, i checked online for groton… i dont quite remember if i got a thick or thin envelope, actually XD but i believe that i got a thick one. sorry

This is pretty irrevelant, but tomorrow’s winter formal! I’m really excited!

Have fun :)

Thanks! I definitely did (:

bumpity bump bump questions?

About how many hours of homework do you have each night?

Well, it varies. Each night, we have a 2 hour study hall to do work. i can usually get most of my work done during this time. However, sometimes I’ll have 3 hours, sometimes only 1. But I’d say that 2 is about the average amount.

Sorry, just a couple more questions. XD

How do most people like the surprise holidays? And what sort of stuff do you get to do?

And if someone wants to stay during a one-week break (waste of airline tix, in my opinion) can they?

Surprise holiday is awesome! During the fall and spring terms, they announce it at roll call. Lower schoolers get to go to Cambridge, and upper schoolers get to go to either Cambridge or Boston. During the winter, they have some kind of announcement the night before so that we can sleep in. Although you can still go to Boston/Cambridge, most people just sleep all day since it’s so cold!!!

You can stay during fall long weekend, thanksgiving break, spring break, and spring long weekend. However, the school closes during winter break and winter long weekend. I go to a friend’s house during the long weekends since I don’t go home.

What did you find surprising when first came to Groton? Anything different from what you had in mind?
Were you accepted at other schools? Was G your first choice?

Thanks!

Well, I came from a public school in Georgia, so I really had no idea what a private boarding school in massachusetts would be like. I only had a viewbook view of the school – I thought of the people as just the preps in the pictures, not as real people. i guess after i came, it became so much more real. it’s opened my eyes to the world a lot because some of the “outstanding” people who look extremely tantalizing on paper can be very different in person.

groton and andover were tied for my first choice, but seeing as i got waitlisted to andover… :-/

Hi- Chance me please!

interview went really well, my dad went to Exeter with Mr. Fry, and he kind of interviewed me too and that went really, really, well.

My SSATS were not fantastic, at least for math. My english are great, but I am slightly panicked about math.

I talked a lot in my interview about international affairs and such.

Thanks!

I’d say you have a pretty good chance Lemon, considering you’re friends with Mr. Fry. He has a LOT of connections.

I have a question about day students (2nd form). Can they eat breakfast / dinner in the dining hall or just lunch? If a student stays late for sports, clubs, studying would she have a place to eat, hang out? Or, is it pretty isolated for day students? Thanks.

Do you know anyone who got off the waitlist?
