I am a high school senior who lives and has grown up extremely close to Hanover. I am very familiar with the town, and would be happy to try to answer any questions people might have about it. I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up at Dartmouth next year, and I'm looking forward to meeting all of you!

What kinds of shops are there? Are there any "quirky" shops? Can I get a haircut or a coat there or do I have to go to somewhere like Manchester for that?

Yeah there are tons of places to get a haircut and eat (including two! indian restaurants, a thai place, fancy italian place, etc). As for clothes its more on the slim pickings side. There's a Gap and a quirky alternative store which sells clothes. Also lots of more traditional places.

We have had sprint and verizion both which work extremely well in hanover.

there are a couple of boutiques in Hanover where you can get dresses, shoes etc (pricy and IMHO not a lot of offerings). Remember you can shop on line, and there is no sales tax in hanover. Combine this with free shipping then shopping is not a big deal.

Italian: There's the fancy one, Ramunto's which is brick oven by the slice pizza, and Molly's (which has other fare but lots of pasta). Many other serve Italian. Even Murphy's, the Irish restaurant/ bar, serves Italian.

ben and jerry's... but that's not gelato.
NH/VT have the best ice cream in the country hands down though... kind of far, but try Ballard's in Concord...

Lol I love Mexican too. There's been talk of a Chipotle, but for now the wrap place has various burritos and most of the restaurants serve some sort of mexican. Leb, about 15 minutes away, has a couple pretty fun Mexican places and a taco bell.

That really depends what you mean by "mall". There is the Powerhouse Mall that is in nearby West Lebanon (about a 10 -15 min drive) but it's pretty small.

There is also the Mall of NH which is pretty big in Manchester, which is about an hour drive.
