Questions about HOBY and summer programs offered by universities

A few questions:

  1. I’m going to the HOBY conference within my state. Has anyone been to your state HOBY conference and how was it? Does it hold any prestige?
  2. Has anyone been to the HOBY World Leadership Congress? Is it worth the money?
  3. In general, are the summer programs offered by colleges worth going to, and do you learn a lot and yet are still fun? I’m referring to ones like Summer@Brown, Harvard SSP, etc.

I’m a HOBY alum. It was super fun, and it’s not prestigious. You will make friends that go beyond the seminar, and the experience cannot be described by words. Although it’s not really prestigious, you do form a network with all HOBY alum. For example, I recently got an unpaid internship with a non profit started by another HOBY alum.

Hi, I have the opportunity to join HOBY. Does it look good on your college resume or are other better summer programs that would look much better on my college resume. Thank you.
