If there are any current students out there, any sense of how common it is for incoming students to select their own roommates rather than relying on the college match?
Also, any experience with the living learning communities?
@Wordy64 There is a deadline set given to chose your roommate I’m not sure how common it is but remember its college so be open to meeting new people. Also I know there are some learning communities and they help you meet people within your major, but to be honest you will eventually know most of then by the end of your freshman year so if you wanna branch out a little and meet people I wouldn’t recommend it.
I think it’s about a 50-50 split of people who pick roommates and those who go for random.
As for LC’s, I personally think they’re great. The person above did not accurately explain them at all. It’s not always about major. There’s an LC for the Honors College, there’s an LC for first generation college students, one for people interested in poetry. It’s about interests in general. I like in the Honors LC and it’s nice because Honors students have different requirements as far as classes go so we all get to experience that together. There are also trips we go on and since we all live in the same dorm we can just meet up and go together.
