Questions about IB exams and admissions

Hello,

I have a hard question can someone please help me:

I am a junior will become senior on august.

I will be applying for college @ the end of this year 05

I will take my IB exams @ may 06

Will it harm my application colleges not having my IB exams grades?

What if teachers give their predicted marks and I write that in the apps?

Please help

thanks

everyone who is doing IB is in the same situation as you-no colleges will see your exam grades until AFTER you takek your final exam in may. they normally ask for your predicted grades. predicted grades are pretty accurate too (unless you have a bad teacher)

so this wont hurt me at all?

thanks that was already good relief for me..

will the colleges ask for my results in july / august?

but it would already be too late?

no it will not, unless they ask for predicted grades and you get a very bad predicted grade.
the only reason colleges will ask after they have accepted you is to see how many credits you will recieve for doing the IB. For instance, if you score a 6 or 7 in one of you HL subjects, you will recieve college credit for those subjects(this varies from school to school though)
The situation is different for Canadian schools-they definately will ask for your predicted grades and will ask for your final grades, as most acceptances are CONDITIONAL(this means, if you get a predicted score of like a 35, but then you get something below 30..) if this happens, they will revoke your acceptance.
so in conclusion, american colleges will not see your final IB exam grade, because your acceptance/rejection letter comes in APRIL, ONE MONTH BEFORE YOU EVEN TAKE THE EXAM!! so how would they know?

ahh I see... so there is no thing such as CONDITIONAL offers in the US?

I heard about conditional offers in Canada and UK colleges.

Has any one here ever received a conditional offer from US college?

U.S university acceptances ARE CONDITIONAL to some extent. It doesnt really have much to do with IB scores though. Basically, if you are an A student, and your final 12th grade semester grades drop drastically in more than one subject (like getting 2 C
s or D
s), and you have no valid excuse (like a serious car accident, family death, etc) other than slacking off, then your admission will be revoked. This doesnt happen so often though. Another way your acceptance could be revoked is some kind of behavioral issue, like you get arrested or something like that.

How will the college know ... I got bad grades at the end ? ?

Once I am accepted I am in right? only If I have a criminal or behaviour offense?

They cant tell me in August they wont be accepting me..

No, they will still ask for you to send in your final transcript in June or whenever. They will probably also ask for your IB grades, to see how many credits you will recieve, but this won`t affect your admissions AFAIK.

Basically, colleges are going to see all of your H.S record(except 9 th grade in some cases- like Princeton doesnt ask for 9th grade grades), so just becasue you got accepted in April, doesn
t mean you can just slack off that final semester- it
s called senioritis (when you slack off in your senior year).
