So I'll be a freshman next fall and I'm coming from a dual-enrollment focused high school. I have 60+ credits (and an AA) from Miami Dade College. I know UF will take up to 60 credits so does anyone know which, of these, they will and wont take? Additionally, if they take care of all of My gen-eds and Im left with four years to work on my major, is it possible to double, or even triple major? Ive been thinking a lot about polisci, art history, and maybe film/english/philosophy.

Not sure what you are planning on majoring in, but check out the specific college to which you will be applying. Some only allow you to use 1 AP credit…some 2 AP credits…not sure how they treat dual enrollment…hopefully someone competent at the university will advise you.

@hapyhapy Well i was admitted as a polisci major but i would like to do more. Also, would it be possible to major across schools ie: polisci in CLAS and art history in the school of art?

You will have to rely on an advisor for that. There are specific classes you must have for each major. My daughter was torn between nursing and pre-OT…she was told she could not apply to both schools only one. She job shadowed over last summer and decided to go for the pre-OT at the College of Health Science. Her advisor told her that would be an easier program to get into…well she got rejected along with many other UF students from what I hear. Most devastating day of her life…she can’t get in to speak with the advisor because they don’t have time until May. So she had to change her major this past week to something she really wasn’t planning on but does want to graduate (on time). In all honesty they tell their students to have a back up plan but who goes to college and pays all this money to graduate with a BACK-UP plan. KInd of sucks in my opinion and I honestly hate paying that tuition bill now, but my daughter for some reason loves UF… Occupational Therapy requires a masters degree and as long as she has taken the required classes for grad school she will be OK (she has great grades) but the point is they wouldn’t let her apply to both programs. It might be different with CLAS because I think once you are in that college (CLAS) and take all their required classes you graduate as long as you pass. She was looking at two specific programs which have limited admission and I think that is why they wouldn’t let her apply to both.

Hello. I’m kind of in a similar situation to you. I haven’t gotten my AA, but I have around 40+ credits, out of which most will transfer.

Now, with an AA you’re considered basically a Junior. You might be labeled as a “Freshman” for now, but your university standing will be a Junior as long as the college/major you applied to accepted you.

Dade and UF have a lot of similar courses, so most likely most will transfer. Look through the required classes of the majors you want to go into, and look for IDENTICAL COURSE NUMBERS. If they match, they transfer.

From <a href=“Transfer - How to Apply - University of Florida”>http://www.admissions.ufl.edu/ugrad/trtransfercredit.html :

"Courses from Florida public community colleges and State University System schools generally adhere to the Statewide Course Numbering System. If the prefix (first three letters) and the last three digits of the course number are the same, then the course is considered equivalent.

Equivalent courses will generally fulfill the same requirements (e.g. General Education) that the UF course fulfills. However, whether a course fulfills UF’s Writing and Math Requirement is determined by specific criteria, not course number equivalency."

For information about Double+ Majoring http://www.advising.ufl.edu/information/dd.html (they actually have a complicated name for it. It’s double degree, major, or something else if the major is from different colleges)

Hey again, I feel like I’m answering all your questions. Did you attend SAS? Well, I was in the same situation as you are it seems and 100 of my credits transferred. They cut your dual enrollment credits at 60 and the rest of my credits were AP (the limit for those is 45, I believe).

If you have any more questions, message me!

@Rhinacerous I do attend SAS! and thanks for answering all my questions, i really appreciate your help.
