Questions about intended Major!!!

Hi everyone!

I don't even know whether I've been accepted, but I can hardly wait until the notification, I've been thinking about Columbia incessantly!

okay, so I'm from the Washington, D.C. area, have lived overseas, and love anyhthing international, needless to say, I want to do work within the field of international relations!

I know that Columbia offers an international relations major, but they also have a human rights major, which I found to be very interesting as well! My mom works for the gov't, judging by her expereince, gov't work isn't something I reallly want to go into...basically it sucks being a girl in a big 'ol bureacracy!:) I want to do more of the humanitarian work, perhaps something for the UN. Also, conflict mediation and resolution is something I'm interested in, so perhaps int'l law...

what route do you believe I should take? any suggestions at all? Ok great, thanks in advance!!!:):)

You're too happy.

Haha, you are going down the same path I am... IR rules... with a dash of Quantum Physics...

too happy? what?!?!

yeeeeah no physics for me...NO WAY! good luck witht hat though! are there any CU students out there who would like to add their experiences to this thread!!!? thanks:):)

Umm, well Columbia college actually DOESN'T offer an undergraduate international relations major.. I'm not sure where you're getting that. They do offer the five year International Affairs B.A, M.I.A... but for undergrad, you're gonna hav to settle with being a political science major

right...well thats what i meant, poli sci concentrating in IR...i just say IR although a lot of schools dont have specific IR majors:)
