what type of questions do they usually ask you at interviews?

they ask you pretty general questions most of the time. I interviewed at Haverford and Swarthmore and they asked things like "Why ______?" and "what is the biggest challenge you faced?" Also, both places asked me to describe where I live? (was not expecting that). They also asked me about my senior year schedule and about my favorite or most meaningful EC.

wear semi-casual stuff. I'd say if ur a guy, a collared shirt and jeans will do the trick. for a girl, whatever is the equivalent of that.

Hope that helps, good luck. Where are you interviewing by the way?

new college of Florida.i really want to go to a liberal arts school.

Do the interviewers ever ask questions like (a) what other schools have you looked at ? (b) why would you like to come to this school instead of those ?
or is it more conversational and easy going stuff ? Thanks.

get any book about job interviewing; the questions are mostly the same -- open-ended to see where you take them. For example, "tell me about yourself".

One key moment will be when they ask if you have any questions. This isn't idle curiosity or to kill time, its to see if you've done your homework and can ask a few questions showing you have given some thought about what it would be like to be a student there, are familiar with the material in the viewbook and online, etc.

Good point. I guess evaluating the questions one asks can be almost as revealing as the answers one gives..... then again, since most kids are 17 or 18, I would think and hope they would have some compassion...lol. Thanks.

There's a locked thread about interviewing. I think it's third from top. Look over there.
