ok, so i'm gonna be a highschool sophomore next year, taking 2 honors (biology and algebra 2), but in my freshman year i had a 3.2 GPA for both semesters. I KNOW I AM GONNA DO MUCH MUCH BETTER IN MY NEXT YEARS! the only problem is, that i had a C (first semester) and D (second semester) in english :-( BECAUSE i had problems with my english teacher (will be MUCH better next year when i get a better teacher)
i am planning on doing a TON of community service and maybe extra curriculum activities.
is there ANYTHING i can do to get into john hopkins? i LOVE biology, math, and chemistry btw.
WHAT CAN I DO??

i want to become a doctor, and maybe move on to harvard medical later.

any help would be great! thanks.

ouch a C and a D? I mean a C is ok I guess, but both is gonna be a stretch. I would sya that oyu need to look forward, not backwards. Get 2200+ o nthe SAT and 760+ on SAT II’s. Make sure your college essay is good. Do lots of EC’s THAT FOCUS ON YOUR PASSION, NOT JSUT RANDOM ONES. ANd go for awards too. Grab every opportunity!

It’s likely that Johns Hopkins does not look at your freshman grades, as many schools don’t. Even if they do, it won’t keep you out (unless you’re applying to its very nice English deparment, maybe).
Don’t do community service for the sake of doing community service. Do something that satisfies your want to help society, whether it be helping orphans, the environment or people suffering from a particular disease.
Also, if you’re planning on going to JHU for its biomed programs, then you should try doing some research in the medical field. See what you’re interested in in biology or any science, and talk to your science teacher about your research topic.

thanks for replying
just a question, what’s the “College Essay” really about? how many paragraphs do i have to write? what do i write about? what grade should i get to be accepted at johns hopkins?
