Questions about Lawrenceville, Hotchkiss, Taft, and Choate

Hi@soxmom, thank you for your thorough answer. My question about kids from NYC dominating the feel of the school comes mostly from the parents forum where many comment on their posts that they had that strong NYC ‘feel’ to Taft when they visited the campus (versus a CT feel or a Mas. feel that was very palpable in other schools like Loomis or NMH) Since I’m not American I can’t really identify that, but some parents on the forum say you have to be really confident to feel comfortable in that kind of setting. So I just wanted to know if within that type of student body you can also find some kids that are just simple and humble (my daughter is more inclined to that type of person). Also about the point you make of ‘all boarding schools having significant international student population’ I think (correct me if I’m wrong) that some schools are more inclined to accepting international students than others. Schools like Choate, Deerfield, Loomis and NMH have a higher percentage of international students. It seems to me like Taft is a bit more conservative in that area. From what I have researched their international population consists mostly of Asian students. I hope my daughter is not going to feel isolated for being a shy (not very sophisticated international student) The reason she chose Taft over schools with more international students was because of the strong academics and smaller campus. She loves to study hard and be surrounded by smart peers.
@ChoatieMom do you think an unsophisticated and very studious kid can also feel comfortable and confident within a sophisticated student body like Choate’s or Taft’s?
