rglick, going to tualne. i feel like i actually may not be interested in transferring, all of a sudden. but we'll see. right about now i might just stick with it :) I mean i'm sure tulane's MT program good. they said they've put people on broadway before, so it has to be at least somewhat decent, right?

rglick....Shenandoah and JMU are both good programs but fundamentally different. Shenandoah is a BFA conservatory program and JMU is a BA by audition program in MT. So, generally speaking BFAs tend to be harder to get into than BAs (though there are exceptions.....for example, Northwestern and UCLA's BA programs are harder to get into than Pace's BFA), in terms of musical theater applicants.

Does anyone know anything about the program at West Chester(PA). Web says it's a theater program with an MT emphasis, but there is no other info.

When my d was auditioning two years ago...can it be that long ago?...we looked into West Chester. The people were wonderful, the program seemed to be taking shape at that time. They built a brand new beautiful music school since then! Let us know if you find anything else out. I recieved information after I contacted the department directly. I do know of kids who have attended there for music, and they love it.
As for Shenandoah...:D...their mt program continues to grow!! Their audition numbers go up each year!! It is a conservatory program, BFA. I think this program is getting to be more well known. If you have any questions, let me know, or post it on the Shenandoah thread....there are some current students that check that and will respond when time allows!!!
Did anyone mention Montclair on this thread? That was another program that was just starting to develope at the time!!

Try out Ball State Uiversity's MT program! Soon to be a BFA program and is the longest running MT program in Indiana. Senior showcases to LA, NYC and Chicago; next year we offer only 12 freshmen spots. Professional faculty are directing, acting in NYC, Chicago and in large regional houses plus authors and Fulbright scholars. Current program includes 8 semesters of voice, 1 year of piano, theory, sightsing, 4 semesters of 3 styles of dance, singing actors classes, 3 - 4 musicals per year but MT students audition for entire season including film projects. BFA program will add 2 more styles of dance (four more semesters), additional acting courses...6 total up from 3. Auditions begin in November 2007. Current students in national tours, on Broadway, national commercials and getting to top graduate school acting programs.
