There is a lot about this if you look through old postings but Northampton has a lot going on - a number of music clubs, great food and the other college campuses around all have many events. My D does a variety of things - most;y at SMith but also does have to study on weekends as well. She has gone to concerts in town, movies and events at other colleges. It seems more like there isn’t enough time rather than there aren’t enough things to do.

There are lots of great things to do in Northampton. There’s really cool, funky shopping, great bookstores, an indie movie theater and awesome indie video rental shop, a cool old concert hall that hosts shows and film festivals, really good restaurants and fun bars.

And of course. There are concerts. Northampton is a big music hub and a lot of top name bands and singers come to play at the various Iron Horse venues. For a small town, there are a ton of music venues, with good concerts, blues nights, salsa nights every week.

There are lots of other threads about what students do on the weekends, but what I did when I was a student: Study in coffee shops in town, go boating on Paradise Pond, go for hikes/walks in the nearby area, go to concerts, go to movies, go to parties on campus or off campus, go out for dinner and/or drinks with my friends, go shopping, go to the campus art museum, go to plays or dance concerts on campus, movie nights with my house mates, etc etc etc.

I was also in the Smith Democrats, so a lot of weekends in the fall we would travel to other states to help out with political campaigns (we went as far as Pennsylvania, New York, Missouri, Maine, all over). I also had jobs on and off campus, so I often worked on the weekends.
