I took the tour during the Orientation, but I still had a few questions about the dorms:
Is there a mirror provided for in the dorm rooms?
How tall is the bed elevated from the ground? During the tour, it looked like 2 feet?
I noticed the closet wasn’t covered. What do students typically do about this? I was thinking of making it similar to a shower stall – covering it up with a towel, or curtain… will Housing allow me to do this?

-Some wardrobes have a mirror on the inside of one of the doors.
-Most beds are about 3 feet off the ground.
-As long as you don’t drill into the wall or anything like that, yes. Certainly.

Is there any limit to the fridge size? I just bought one, it’s not one of those big ones and the guy from sears told me that a lot of college student’s buy that one.

A lot of college students who live off campus, maybe…most students on-campus have a fairly small fridge. ~2.5 x 2 x 1.5 feet is the largest I’ve seen.

Check Tripadvisor for reviews: some hotels closest to campus should be avoided, ie: dumps, loud or seedy. Others nice, but pricey - like the Dream Inn. We always stay at the Best Western Seacliff Inn, Aptos - about 10 min. drive to campus. Not the closest but nice. Also Adobe on Green is a terrific bed & breakfast quite close to campus. Not the cheapest, but real nice & not horribly priced for the area.

Before I had my place, I used to stay at the Best Western on Ocean and Soquel. It’s only about a mile from campus (two blocks over the river from downtown) and you can almost always get a room without a reservation (they’re fairly nice, too).

^What! >.> Why is it so expensive? $85? I also purchased a used (it looks brand new) book for cheap $47, now the $85 renders that pointless… I need to check if its cheaper with webassign -w-

@Liesel- really?! do you know how much time they spend at practice?(if you don’t know, it’s fine) I’m considering joining! I ran xc and track all 4yrs in high school and i loved cross country!

I’m going to second the question about bringing an iron. Also, we have to bring our own laundry soap, right? Would you recommend liquid or powder? My family has kind of an old school washer and we always use powder, so I’m just wondering…
