Hey guys! I’m a junior in high school and I currently have a 4.47 weighted GPA.
I want to know if this is good? In terms of getting into Ivy League schools? And I also want to know how I can calculate my unweighted GPA, or which one colleges typically look at?
Of course, as I have 3 more semesters left in high school, I will do my best to raise it! But I just wanted to know where I stand right now.
Thanks in advance to anyone who replies, or even took the time to read this!
Um, what’s wrong with a 4.47 GPA?? (assuming a 4-point scale)
Unweighted GPA on a 4-point scale is calculated by assigning A = 4, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1, F = 0 for each class taken, and then averaging the results. For example, if you took five equally-weighted classes and got 3 A’s, 1 B, 1 C, then your UW GPA is (4+4+4+3+2)/5 = 17/5 = 3.4.
In terms of college admissions, you have nothing to worry about, just keep it up.
Because different HS’s have different weighting systems, colleges will either look at unweighted GPA or will reweight according to their own parameters.
