<p>I've heard people say that it takes longer and it is harder to study neurology...is this true? I'm really interested in the field, but many have discouraged me, supposedly because "It'll take forever" and "It's way too difficult."</p>
<p>I don't know about that. Neurology is certainly challenging, but no more so than endocrinology, infectious disease, etc. Training is 1 year of medicine plus 3 years of neurology, so really less time than it takes to become any sort of subspecialist.
I will say this from personal observation over 20 years: neurologists are by and large a very cerebral group.</p>
