Questions about NYU

For anyone who has applied to NYU or been accepted, what are they mainly looking for in an applicant (GPA, SAT/ACT, EC, Rank, Essay-wise)? Do they have a pre law program? I know there is a graduate law school, but I haven't heard about one for undergraduates..so if they don't have a pre law program, what school should I apply for that would correlate with my ultimate goal of becoming a lawyer? If they don't have courses focused on law, I'm considering majoring in pyscology and minoring in either history or a foreign language. If I go with this outlet I'll attend law school afterwards, but as an undergraduate, what school should I apply for?

For NYU alumni:
What do you and don't you like about NYU?
Is it better to apply ED?
Did you enjoy your college experience at NYU?
How can I make myself pop out in my application?
What types of essay prompts are given?
How many EC/Volunteer/work infor can be given? Is there a limit? I read on here that there's a limit of 5-6 ecs, so does that include volunteer/work
As for GPA do they disregard 9th grade or do they consider all four years, do they use the unweighted/weighted scale?

please?
I also am confused about how NYU evaluates high school gpas. My school goes by the "A=4, B=3, etc" system, but NYU creates a new gpa by the "A=4, A-=3.7, etc". Do they use their calculated gpa or the high school's?

In regard to GPA, obviously "as high as possible," but in the B+/A- range.
SAT, you should aim for at least low 700s in all three areas.
Extracurriculars are up to you. You'll have the opportunity to write an essay about one EC that you are truly passionate about on the Common Application.

NYU's supplement was the most enjoyable one for me to complete, because I was able to be honest and straightforward. The 2008-2009 Supplement asked me about what I gained from my parents, what song I would sing at a talent show, what I would like to major in at NYU and why, etc.

No school has a pre law program. If you want to become a lawyer, take courses that require you to read extensively, analyze texts, those that are writing intensive. It really doesn't matter what you ultimately choose to major in.

This year, the admit rate was 24 percent, so garnering admission to NYU is becoming much tougher. Good luck!
