Questions about points formula

Participation in pre-collegiate/motivational and enrichment programs: AVID, EAOP, **commercial and school test preparation courses*, etc.

*

Can someone tell me what that means exactly? Are they saying that if I've taken an SAT prep class then I get the points? Or even if I've just gone to a tutor?

when it says school test preparation course im guessing you have to take that course in school. (?)
otherwise i wouldn't know why they would give you points for paying to improve your test scores.

They do give points if you took like Kaplan Test Prep course. Stupid and unfair? Yes. The way it is? Yes.

But it says "commercial AND school", commercial would mean you payed for it doesn't it?

Bartleby:

Really? They do? How would they know that you took it? And does it have it have to be Kaplan's? And where would I put that on the app so they know, ECs? I actually thought that that would be something that's frowned upon.

If you want to bypass it on application jsut put that you took a sat prep class ran by your high school. they dont check this kidna stuff

I would have thought that not taking an SAT prep course would be better because the score would be your own ability and not from preparing for again and again for just 1 test.

"And where would I put that on the app so they know, ECs?"

There's a space specifically for prep classes/programs.

"How would they know that you took it? And does it have it have to be Kaplan's? And where would I put that on the app so they know, ECs?"

How do they know you did anything? You'd have to provide proof, I guess, if you were one of the 10% audited. And it obviously doesn't have to be Kaplan's. What it means is that it can be any test prep class, whether you paid for it, or whether you got it through your school.
