Okay, so each college will ask you for recommendations on their applications. For example: let's say you get a recommendation from your coach. Do you make multiple copies of that recommendation so that you can use that for other college apps? Or does the coach have to write different rec for every application?

The coach would make multiple copies of his rec. So just give him the envelopes and stamps and whatnot.

FYI, getting a rec from a coach doesn't count as one of the 2 required recs to apply, it only counts as an optional one. So just make sure you have regular teachers do your other recs.

DO I make the copies or do the teachers? Because won't they fuss over that? I mean they are writing recommendation. But do they make copies too?

peteyflow,

No, the coach will print out how many ever copies you need. Seal them in envelopes. And, he'll either mail them himself or he'll give them to you to mail if you decide to submit paper applications.

so basically,

i) ask your coach for a letter of rec
ii) if he agrees, you will provide him a list of colleges that he needs to send his reccomendation to. you will provide him all of the necessary forms. if possible, give him envelopes with postage stamps in which he can send his letters of rec off to the colleges
iii) you will be able to check if your colleges have received your coach's letter of rec ..usually through an online system of some sort
iv) write a thank you note to your coach ..thanking him for writing the letter of rec.
