Questions about recommendations

(1) For Columbia College, what sort of recommendations would you advise?

The two teachers who know me best would be my English teacher and my language teacher (Hindi) and without doubt they'll be able to produce holistic recommendations. But is it a good idea to have 1 english language and 1 foreign language rec or is it better to have a teacher from a different subject write in, even if the teacher doesn't know me as well?

(2) Other reccomendations.

Would it be viewed negatively if I submit 3 teacher recommendations? Would it be alright if I submit letters from supervisors at places of internship? If I do, what format should I adopt or what forms should I use? Lastly, if I have done research, is it a good idea to attach a rec from my scientist even if I won't be majoring in the field I did research in?

For reference sake, my prospective majors are economics and creative writing.

If a third recommendation can say something unique about you, which comes from a very different perspective than the other two, it is absolutely fine to submit a 3rd rec. I know people who've gotten in with 4. You just don't want to waste the admissions officer's time by submitting something from someone who's going to say the same exact thing (figuratively speaking) as the others.

I agree with Denzera if it speaks about you in a novel way that is independent of your other letters, then it's worth it. However, when I visited the admissions officer who spoke to us made note to tell us about of a kid who sent in 29 recommendations and was rejected. 29 is totally different then sending in 3 or 4, but just thought I would put it out there.

haha, you don't need to worry about me sending in anything more than 3 or 4. i just don't want columbia to have too limited a view of my character and abilities.
