Will SAT scores from the November testing be accepted by Columbia if applying ED?
–I don’t think it would, because Columbia lets applicants know around Dec. 15, and I assume November test scores will be available around November 23rd – but those are just my thoughts…please let me know.

Now I need some advice!
–March SAT: 2100
750 Writing, 10 essay
730 Critical Reading
620 Math.

–October SAT: 2150
760 Writing, 11 essay
730 Critical Reading
660 Math

SAT II’s: 720 U.S. History
660 Literature

I’m applying as a philosophy major. I’m not asking for any chances, I’m confident in my extra currics, essay, and letters and if I wasn’t confident in myself I would not be applying
ED - if you don’t believe in yourself I don’t know how you would expect a random admissions officer to believe in you. Anyway, what do you think I should re-take? SAT Reasoning or SAT II Literature??

Thanks, I appreciate any replies.

that’s actually a tough question… since your target major is in the humanities I think I’d vote for Lit, although philosophy is all about logic anyways…

To be honest I don’t think you can go wrong retaking either of them for the math or lit score, so to re-answer your question, if I was in your shoes I’d take the test that I feel more comfortable about making a significant improvement

haha, ya…I’m having the same debate with myself. Is it absolutely crucial that I pull my math score up? It’s going to be evident that math is my weak point regardless.

I would take SAT2s. In addition to lit, you may also consider another “easy” one as back up. Columbia only looks for two, but who knows, the other might be higher =]

I think as long as you pass the mid 50% range, SAT scores aren’t the top concerns. I’m actually not sure of the math middle range, so check up on that. Unless your score is severely below that (ie. >50pts lower), I’d say it’s prob. ok.

All in my opinion; correct me if I’m wrong

Much appreciated…just checked the middle 50%. The middle 50% for math starts at 670 so I guess I’m right there…I guess it’s not worth obsessing over…?

do you know anything about the november scores?
