Questions about SAT SCORE SENDING?

I do not really understand the whole score sending thing. Do we essentially need to pick colleges in advance to send your scores to? What if I am a junior and I don't know what colleges I would like to receive the score? If I wait, each score sent is around $11, which is a considerable amount of money if I send it multiple times to different schools.

Should I just send my scores to a bunch of "possible" schools? Also, if the scores are sent, can they be replaced (if they are bad) with score choice?

I just want to take advantage of the 4 free ones but I'm not sure if I will even apply to those schools. Thanks for any help!

Remember, if you send the scores tomorrow (on test day), then that’s only the one test. You’ll still have to pay for all the other tests you send to the school (unless you know exactly where you’re going to go, in which case you fill in those same schools every test you take). I applied to 23 schools this year, and the test sending fees are crazy, but it’s CollegeBoard’s way of being…well, a monopoly. They like money, they have a service, we need the service, we pay for the service. It’s messed up, but they’re not the nicest bunch.

Too many schools!

blush I know, my parents told me to “cast a wide net”, so I did. OP, 23 is way too many schools. Most people apply to 5-8, max is usually around 15.

The sole benefit of designating colleges in your test application is to get the free sends and if cost is an issue you should seriously consider taking advantage of the free sends… If you don’t deisgnate by the second Monday after the test, you lose any free sends. One you send scores to a school, you don’t have to send the same scores again. However, there is no “score choice” to get your scores back. Score choice is what you can do when you have tests from more than one testing. In that situation, CB will send all your scores in a single order but when you go to send scores from multiple tests you can choose tests not to send. But a score once sent remains sent. Thus, they cannot be taken back but you can send additonal scores later and colleges generally use your highest scores from multiple tests to determine admission.

23 schools… ROI?
