<p>I looked at the schedule of classes, and I noticed that there are no available/limit seat numbers in the lecture rows. Does that mean we sign up for a discussion time and then are automatically placed in that respective lecture? But I've heard that some discussions are optional and some are required, so I'm a bit confused here.</p>
<p>^That’s correct. Every student will be ENROLLED in a discussion, sometimes they are simply not mandatory to go to. </p>
<p>For the record, 99% of my sections have had mandatory attendance, but then again I’m not a science major (I think math/science sections are generally optional)</p>
