I have been looking into some schools in Florida, such as Central Florida, South Florida, Florida International, and Florida Atlantic. The reason for me only looking at these schools is because I know I can get into these schools. I plan on doing a Political Science major, I wish to have a good social scene meaning not too many commuters. Could someone please help me decide which schools I should choose. Also if it is possible please tell me why you think that the other schools I should not go to. Thanks a lot.

Well, all of those schools have commuter populations.

If you're looking at commuter aspect based on how many people live on or near campus:

UCF, having 6000 beds on campus and 3750 beds in nearby apartments, has arguably the most significant residential population.

USF has 5600 residential students. I don't know how many live close to campus.

FIU has 3300 residential students with plans for more. But FIU sucks.

FAU has approximately 2400 people living on campus with the recently-approved plan to add another 1500 people by 2011. I don't have the number of people living in nearby off-campus apartments but I'm sure it's not more than 600, making approximately 3000 people currently living at or near FAU.

That being said, you really have to visit each of the schools after you're accepted and figure out which ones you could actually see yourself going to.

There are some things to consider other than commuter population... my friend attends USF, said she has to carry a knife with her when she's leaving campus at night, and someone tried to break into her apartment; UCF is such a large university that you have to wait (sometimes in the rain) for shuttles to get around it; FIU has a terrible football team and FAU doesn't have the old brick look that some people associate with traditional universities.

But FAU is the "next UCF", with housing, football stadium, Greek village coming so that's something to consider...

^ FIU vs. Miami football game in 2006: That was a great showing of southern gentlemanly behavior and great sportsmanship.

I attend FAU, not FIU. Our football team won two bowl games in the last two years.

FIU fought Miami. That is their crowning achievement in college football thus far.
