Questions about St. Andrews - Dual national

My daughter is a dual national - US/UK. She was born in London to a British father, but has been educated in the US. She is applying to St. Andrew's, I'm assuming as an overseas student. However, is there a possibility that she could be viewed as a British National (two passports) and if so, would this benefit us from a financial standpoint?

Another question - she has sent her SAT and SSAT scored via the College Board to the university. However, St. Andrews does not pop up as a choice for sending AP scores via the College Board. Does anyone know how to handle this? I have emailed the university and am waiting for a reply.

For fees, she pays international student rates - it goes by (tax) residency, not citizenship. That’s bad from a financial standpoint, but good from a getting accepted standpoint: International student fees are greatly valued.

You can send AP scores via College Board - St Andrews code is 0861 (same as for SATS). The full list is here:

As stated above, she’ll need to pay international rates, but the dual citizenship ship will help greatly regarding visas-- she won’t need one. My son has a student visa to attend school in Scotland and has only 4 months after graduation to try to find a job and sponsor if he wants to stay in the UK-- something that will be very difficult for him to get. He’ll most likely have to return to the States after graduation. Also-- the student visa was a big hassle to obtain, and expensive!

Fee status in the UK is based on residence, not nationality. If she hasn’t lived her for three years, and if her parents haven’t, then she will be an ‘overseas’ student.

As for test scores, she can self report these via UCAS or the Common App. She can then send a copy of her scores to St Andrews. If your daughter went to a US school, they will want her transcript and school report but this is usually reported via Naviance or the Common App.
