Questions about Steinhardt

I have around a 3.5 to 3.7 (I don't have all my score reports with me to calculate my actual GPA. but I think it's around a 3.5-ish but I can't be sure), I got a 26 on my ACT (though I'm sure I'll be able to bring it up a point), I got a 1700 (with the Writing but I'm taking it again. I got nervous and spazzed a little on it the first time) and I have a lot of extracurricular activites (including quite a few leadership positions. Vice President of French Club and Historian of my Thespian Troupe). I have yet to take the Subject Tests but I'm taking them the first chance I get.

I'm wondering if I have a chance for Steinhardt. I'm hoping to go into Speech Pathology and Audiology. I'd like some feedback about what I can do to get in and if I can use what I have in my senior year to work and get in. If you have feedback, please make it constructive and not rude. Thanks. I'm really considering applying

I posted a similar topic yesterday. I'm hoping to go in to communications.

Neat! I really am interested in Steinhardt and Speech Pathology. I love kids and would like to work in the school system helping with Speech Impairments and things of the sort. I just hope I can get some information. My GPA is not the best but I hope I still have a chance for Steinhardt.

Well, from what I understand, it seems Steinhardt (for non performance-based programs) is one of the less competitive NYU schools, so your GPA could be fine. As you know your scores are a bit low but you're taking them again anyway.

The competitiveness for admittance all depends on the strength of the applicants for each year, and those applicants still need to have strong stats in order to qualify to be admitted, even though the program may be non-performance based.

^ Certainly, but everyone knows Stern and Tisch are generally the most selective schools (even people working at NYU will tell you that). You do need strong stats to qualify, but based on what I've seen, a 3.5-3.7 should qualify for Steinhardt (unless there's a drastic change next year).

Also, admittance is also based on the level/quality of the SAT/ACT scores, and again, that all depends on the competitiveness of the applicants. All of the schools at NYU should be considered competitive, because there are so many applicants that would like admission, and there just isn't enough space, thus making the application process even to Steinhardt very competitive.

I agree. I am trying to keep my stats as high as I can. I'm going to keep Steinhardt on my list for application and I'll see what happens. I don't know if I have much of a chance but I'm going to try and boost my scores and see what happens. :]
