I took an online music appreciation class over summer and recieved a D. It was much more difficult than i anticipated and it was only 6 weeks long, so it was extremely difficult to recover after failing my first listening test (hard). My counseler said that it would go on my transcript and effect my high school gpa. However on the website it says i have to submit my official transcript from the cc to the high school afterwords to get credit. If i didnt do this to avoid the gpa penalty would i be breaking any rules? Do community college classes actually effect high school gpa or is my counseler wrong? Thank you
There is a clearing house for all college transcripts including on-line CC courses. You are required to send in all transcripts, HS and college when applying to a college and since you took the class while attending HS, the grade will become part of your GPA. Do not take a chance and lie, since any college you apply to later could rescind your acceptance or take away your degree if they catch you.
Whether you need to put it on your HS transcript is one thing. Ask your counselor if that is absolutely required.
You will need to have the CC send an official transcript when you apply to college.
