so as summer approaches im starting to hear more about summer programs at different colleges. im kinda a n00b at this, so wut is the point of these programs? do they help u decide if u like the college or if you like the field u r trying out? does it matter what college u attend for summer programs or is it just for colleges that u intend on going to? any reccomendations of some summer programs for a sophmore in high school on going junior in southern california for Electrical Eng or Comp Sci Engineering? thanks - ohnonomiss

I run an engineering summer camp for high school students at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith. The purpose for our program is to introduce top students to engineering and hopefully some will come to our school afterwards. Certainly from a student perspective it is a great opportunity to check out a school you are considering. Camps can do all things...help you decide the college and/or engineering as a major.

thanks for your response.

do you or anyone else know of any engineering or computer science summer camps available to high school students in southern california? im particularly interested in UCLA or Harvey Mudd, but any other school in the area would be just fine. thanks

You can check here for some infortmation about engineering summer camps: http://tbp.mit.edu/highschool/.
