Questions about SUNY Purchase

I have a question about SUNY Purchase's acting department. If you get accepted in the acting department, are elements of musical theatre, i.e. voice also included? Also, how are the experience of applicants to the acting department compared to schools such as NYU, Syracuse, Ithaca etc.?

As far as I know, SUNY Purchase is NOT an MT program, it is straight Acting. Perhaps you could piece together some dance and voice on your own, but I'm not sure if they're offered at that campus.

Yes, though no music theory and it wouldn’t be comparable to what you get in a good MT program.

Not likely. Their BFA Acting program is one of the most intense acting conservatories in the country with over thirty contact hours a week right from the get go. The kids in it don’t have time to breathe and definitely don’t have time to take classes in the music conservatory. They schedule the acting classes to leave just barely enough time to complete the slight general education requirements with no time to spare. This program demands total commitment to the Acting curriculum as it stands. They also have around a 2-3% admit rate.

Yea, I toured the school and interviewed with director of the program and it is very much a straight theatre program.
