Questions about teacher recommendations

Hey everyone,

I know this may seem like a stupid question, but how many teachers (excluding the counselor's recommendation) should I ask for CP's recs? Because on the application form there's only one provided, but that seems kinda, idk, odd. And also, do you know if it's a little late asking teachers now for recommendations? I'm apply by the Nov. 1 priority deadline, btw.

Thanks. (:

It’s not late to ask, most teachers prioritize their letters by deadline, so ask this week. Also, if there is only 1 they ask for than that’s the amount you ask for. WHen in doubt clal admissions dept. DS did it 2 yrs ago, so I really don’t recall if that is the right number.

DS provided three letters from core teachers that know him well. I have heard that sometimes teachers will ask for a resume to help them write the letter. DS did not provide this for his letters and the letters were much more personal. Don’t worry about the timeline. It’s plenty of time for your teachers to write you a letter. They can just attach it to the common app. You will know once it’s there.

From what the UMD site says, you should only give to one teacher. That is what my counselor told me. In the end you will have two recs, from from counselor and one from teacher.
