I am currently traveling in Europe and I've had to deal with telebears overseas. I'd appreciate it very much if you guys could give me the answers to some of these questions so I could finish picking my classes overseas.

When do we sign up for decals and seminars? I heard that one of these type of classes cannot be signed up for during talebears. Are we guaranteed seats in these classes if we are signing up for them during telebears?

Would a class like Math 1A with borcherds usually have some open spots when school starts so I could transfer into them?

Most decals give our the codes to register for them after the first week or two. So you don’t sign up for them just yet - you go to the first few classes, and then you sign up for it if you get a spot and the instructors approve you for enrollment.

I don’t know about math1a with borcherds in general, but most big classes like math 1a have a lot of movement so as long as you sign up and keep your spot on the waitlist, you could have a waitlist number of 15+% of class size (e.g. be number 30 out of 200) you have a shot. just make sure you’re on the waitlist and then do not screw around with it so you keep moving down the list.

So right now I have 12 units. I need 13 to satisfy the minimum requirements. I wanted my last unit to be a decal. Will I be alright if I only have 12 units until the first couple weeks of school? Won’t I be considered a part time student?

sign up for a Decal that already has CCNs posted or some class you don’t intend to take, just to get your units above the minimum. When you get into the DeCal you really want, register and dump the placeholder class or DeCal.
