So I've been accepted at UCSB and UCSC for Fall 2011 and I have some questions about UCSC. I'm into literature, creative writing, theatre, film photography, painting, and ceramics: basically I'm an art freak although I don't look it and I excel in academic subjects like science and history as well.
From what I've read, it sounds like Kresge or Porter would be the best college for me, does that sound true?
The idea of the darkroom at Kresge especially appeals to me, but does anyone know if non-Kresge students can use it?
And I've also heard about a ceramics studio at Merrill, anyone know anything about that?
Are the drugs/partying at Porter and Kresge as bad as people say? I don't smoke or drink but I'm fine with people who do as long as I'm not around it ALL the time.
How is theatre at UCSC? Are there opportunities to act or tech for non-theatre majors? Would minoring in theatre be a good idea if I want to be involved in it but major in something else?
Is UCSC in general a good community for people passionate about the arts?
Thank you to anyone who can answer any of these questions, I know it's a lot!

hi, i’ve been accepted to ucsc as a “proposed Film and Digital Media” major and i’m also wondering about the art programs there, specifically the film program.
