I know that Middlebury requires a recent graded analytical essay with teacher's comments on.

How recent does this include? I'm thinking of submitting a satire analytical essay I wrote in January 2008.
Also, does "graded" mean that the essay must have a score somewhere on the paper?
Would it be okay if my teacher's comments are typed instead of handwritten?
At my school we submit most paperworks online so the teacher grades and comment them online.
I'd like to have my teacher comment on my paper by hand again, but currently there has
been a snow storm in my area and all the schools here have been closed for a few days.

I'll appreciate to hear your responses.
Thank you and happy holidays!

Another question - I read from a thread here that Middlebury's pre-app was due 12/15.
Is there a really low/no chance of getting in RD if I submit it passed the deadline?

My S has the same "problem" with his paper as they are submitted and graded online. I think I read somewhere where it says the paper should be written this year. However, I think that it might be in reference to AP Lit or something that students typically take sr year whereas our students take AP Jr. year.

As for the Pre-app. I think you would be best to call as the pre-app was just more or less basic information that had to be submitted prior to 12/15 with a deadline for the rest of the application by Jan 1. Not sure how sticky they would be on that 12.15 date, but would imagine the Jan 1 is pretty solid for things within your control (vs transcripts etc sent from your school).

Thank you so much for the reply! My essay was written during my junior year in my AP English Language class.. is this too late? And graded/commented essay online is fine? Please help me >_< Thank you:)

Actually I just contacted the admissions office that typed comments on the essay are fine, they would accept the one I wrote in January 2008 and the pre-app submitted today, but they will wait for the one I wrote in my senior year. Thank you.

Hlover, I am almost certain that it can be handwritten, as my friend who was admitted for '12 submitted an in-class essay that she did quite well on. Make sure it is legible, however. They could get frustrated with illegible handwriting. If it is difficult to read, I would suggest typing up the essay and handing both graded and typed copies in.

That's what I did, typed a handwritten essay and sent both in. My handwriting's H O R R I B L E, and I didnt want to torture the person who's going to read it. :P
