Questions About the History Department

Hey all!

I was wondering how difficult the upper-division history courses are. How do history courses compare to other departments? Is the seminar/senior thesis stressful, worthwhile, or hard? Are there any courses or instructors I should avoid? Was finding your Field of Concentration intuitive, and how well do the available classes fit with your chosen field? And, for those of you who transferred from a California CC, how do classes at Cal compare to your previous course-load?

Thanks!

Does anyone have any insight into the department?

I’ve taken a number of upper div history courses out of interest (not a history major), and compared to my other majors (math and econ), history classes are very relaxing, fun, and professors are very accessible and accommodating. All the professors I’ve had were amazing!
