The app for Michigan is relatively straightforward, but I have a few questions that I am sure many of you can help me with.

It asks to explain anything you do to assist your family significantly. Is this a required explanation that I should indicate any sort of work around the house (mowing lawns, babysitting, etc) or is it only for a high school student who works full/part time to assist their family financially (I do not do this).

For activities there is a drop down menu with either individual sports options (I play varsity basketball) or a drop down for “varsity sports.” Which should I pick?

My school uses extensions for phone numbers, but there is no way to indicate an extension. What should I do?

It asks for “credit hours” but my school just uses credits (like 1, 1.5, 2 credits) Should I just use those?

No, i don't think mowing lawns/babysitting counts as assisting your famil significantly.

Probably varisity sports

Just put down the phone number without the extention

Yes.

just a related question while im browsing: does michigan really care that much about EC's and essays when choosing who to accept? or does GPA and ACT pretty much do it all?

Add it to schools attended, and have them send a transcript. You can mention extra stuff about the classes if you want, but it's not really necessary.
