Questions about the PSAT?

Hey everyone! I just joined CC ten minutes ago, and this is my first post. I’m not sure if this is the right section for questions about the PSAT, but oh well. Anyways, I am a junior in HS and what I really wanted to know is other than scholarships, how important is your PSAT score when thinking about college? Do colleges even look at that when looking over your application? How much study time should I actually be devoting to the test next Wednesday, if any? Thanks!!

Unless your score is high enough to qualify for National Merit distinctions, the PSAT is irrelevant for college admissions.

Do they post the cutoff for National Merit Scholarships for each state anywhere online? I’ve been looking but I can’t find anything consistent for Arizona.

So you’re also saying that I shouldn’t be stressing too much over it? A lot of the schools I would want to go to in the future don’t even participate in merit aid. The only one that I’m interested in that provides significant merit aid is USC.

USC gives a half tuition scholarship for NM. So, at the very least do the PSAT practice test and review your wrong answers. That is probably all you have time for, but I think that alone could increase your score a few points.
