Questions about the Supplement

For the two short answer questions on the Brown supplement, I’m really having trouble figuring out how they are different. For the second question (how did you become interested in Brown), do they just want you to talk about how you first learned about the school? I feel like a lot of my material for the first question can be interchanged with my material for the second.

Tell us about the academic areas that interest you most and your reasons for applying to Brown.

How did you become interested in Brown, e.g., college counselor, undergraduate, relative, web site?

They seem pretty self-explanatory, and pretty different. #1 asks what you are interested in that Brown has to offer you, and why you think you are a good fit for Brown. #2 asks you who or what (web site) told you about Brown and why that person thought you would be a good fit, and, perhaps, why.

Wow, I'm a retard. lol. I guess I just needed someone to say it for me. Thanks! :)

Uhh...
For the second one, how are we supposed to write a paragraph on how we found out about Brown? O_O

Talk about the person who told you about Brown, why you trust him or her, what he or she means to you in your life, stuff like that.

seriously #2 is an essay? I hate college apps aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

The second one doesn't have to be an essay. You can write just a few words ("my guidance counselor," "my friend Harry") if you want. Many kids do.

However, since Brown doesn't "track" interest (i.e., keep track of your on-campus visits, etc.), how you answer this question can reveal your level of interest -- which Brown rates very high in its decision-making process.
