:( I was waitlisted from Vassar, which is my first choice, and was wondering on the odds of acceptance in May...

I let my interviewer know that Vassar is my first choice, and I think that might have played a part in being waitlisted

1) Does applying for financial aid mean I dug my own grave? I really need FA but I've heard Vassar takes it into account if you're on the waitlist

Please help me guys, Vassar is my first choice and last shot to get into a college I would actually want to attend

I don’t know if I can at this point… all this work in high school and the college it looks like I’m going to I could have done literally no work

what can I do to improve my chances?

also, how many wrestlers/MMA guys can they have at and applyting to vassar? i thought it would be very original thing for them to see

and I’m sorry if I sound like a baby, but I am truly heartbroken

GPA- 94 or so… i think that’s a 3.78 or 3.8, best public school in NYC

ACT- 30 with high grades in every subject except science (and yes I know it is just average)

i already let them know vassar is my first choice

varsity wrestling captain
Tae Kwon Do for 10 years - state champion at it
do Mixed Martial Arts as a hobby
Volunteered in political campaign, I’m big on government and politics
just some quick things

Actually, Vassar is only need blind for domestic applicants and not for taking people off the wait list. However, there is still hope! They didn’t outright reject you, which is a good thing, and you can always apply for transfer if a spot doesn’t open up. Some years, no one is taken off the wait list no matter how good their stats are, just because our class size is so small. What are your other choices?

so if they turn towards the waitlist this year they will see I need financial aid?

and i am limited to binghamton and st. john’s, and am on the waitlist for northeastern and BC, with BC being my second choice after vassar and NE my 3rd

in hindsight, there are so many things I should have done differently

I also got waitlisted…I was really bummed because I realized it was probably my first choice. I have a 32 ACT and a 4.00 unweighted and 4.73 weighted. C’est la vie for a liberal arts school! This is what I’m doing and I think this is what any hopefuls should do: when you take your place on the waitlist, butter up the school, but also don’t hesitate to talk about YOU. Of course, don’t push it. Good luck!
