Questions about Transferring to CSU Fall 2013

Hello, I will be applying to a couple CSU's next Monday and I just had a couple questions

Some background, I attended a CSU out of high school. I was not focused and my GPA dropped to a 1.8. I decided to leave and attend my local community college. Currently I have a 2.6 (a misinformed counselor informed me of a 5 unit class that was required to take CALCULUS, which was my only class I got a D in at my CC) If I had never taken the class my GPA was sitting at a 3.3.

I have already taken Calculus at my previous CSU and failed, took it a second time at my CC and failed.
-How many times am I allowed to take it over?
---1 more chance? If my CC takes into account my attempt at the previous CSU?
---2 more tries? Since I have only attempted it once at the CC?
= I plan on taking it one more time in the Spring of 2013

I plan on applying to CSU Fullerton, Northridge, San Diego, and some others for backup. I know how to calculate my GPA, but I am having trouble with calculating repeated classes from 2 different schools. A counselor told me, they will take the highest grade no matter where it is from. Another told me they will average. I want to post an accurate cumulative GPA to the CSU Mentor applications, so I do not end up lying.
-For example:

Class---------Grade---Units---X---Grade Point---=
CSU Econ 1A-- D --- 3 ---X--- 1 ---= 3
CC Econ 1A -- A ---- 3 ---X--- 4 ---=12

Take the higher grade?
Or will my averaged Units stay 3 and my average grade point 7.5? 7.5/3?

Sorry for wall of text, but thanks for reading it.

Interesting. I’d like to know as well. I got a D in linear alg but got a B when I retook it in the following semester. My CCC removes the D from the GPA calculation but would I need to recalculate my GPA as an average of the two?

Hmm… actually, if CSU’s are similar to UC’s then they would follow this.

[University of California - Calculating GPA](<a href=“University of California Counselors”>University of California Counselors)

Interesting, I’ve repeated around 4 course and got an A in it, my cumulative GPA, according to that, may be better then what I thought

Any one care to confirm?
anything about situation #1?

Well it depends on the CC. For PCC we’re allowed to retake a class up to 2 times (take the class 3 times in total) without petitioning and for the 3rd retake you’ll have to petition to retake the course. They don’t take into account if you failed it in another college.

awesome, thanks
