Hello. I have just recently submitted an transfer application to Clemson University for the fall semester of 2017. My final grades come back in May, at that point I will be able to send my final transcript to Clemson. My question is, does a freshman transfer applicant from another 4 year college, have a lesser chance of getting accepted versus someone from Clemson’s Bridge program, or perhaps a 2 year community college?
Hi there . I also submitted a application recently . Im from a two year community college in Georgia . As far as I understand it depends on your grades and the rigor of the classes you took . On the transfer application website it recommends that you take/enroll in the freshman level math, science, and English courses for your intended major to better your chances . I don’t believe where you take the classes counts much. It’s more of what classes have you took and what grades did you get in them. I’m a college sophomore so I didn’t have to send a high school transcript or stat/act scores, but if you did this will have impact on your chances as well ,depending on what they showed.
Thank you! I’m a freshman, and I know if you’re coming in with less than 29 credits they look at your high school material. After this semester I will have 34 credits, and I’m probably going to finish this semester with hopefully a 3.5 or higher. The only class I have not taken is my science. However I have currently taken my English and Math. I spoke with an admissions counselor and they told me that science was recommended but not required because I can take it at Clemson if accepted. Do you think I could still have a chance for admittance?
Well it sounds like you might have a higher chance than me at least. I only have a 2.85 GPA and plan to get it back to a 3.0 by the end of this semester hopefully . I have took math and English but not science either. I explained my reasons for this stuff in the candidates comments though. My family has been going through hard times the past two years so I had to jumble a little more than usual. I whould say you have a really good chance though . I applied for the general engineering degree as my first choice.
Thanks again. I hope you get in. I know this year the applications have been up in numbers, and a lot more competitive and selective because of the attention that football has given the school. However an admissions counselor told me that Clemson accepts 70% of transfer applications, and it’s a little bit more easier if you’re transferring in versus freshman applications, so you should have a good chance. Good luck with Engineering, I hope we both make it. My major is History.
Your welcome and thanks. I hope we both become Tiger Town Bound!
Hi there: Just curious…were you successful in transferring ? My daughter is thinking of transferring after her freshman year as well.
