<p>lunatichemist… his act was 33, his school doesnt rank or weight but he had ap and advanced courses which helps, your gpa etc looks very similar to his stats. the chem scholars and sci/tech programs require applications and interviews. another thing if you like md/phd programs is that uab is part of the mstp schools…then med school and phd are paid for through NIH and your receive a stipend (depends on the state but around 25-30K per year). Of course you would need to be interested in research or academia (those are the usual paths mdphd follow) MD/PHD programs are selective and not all md/phd programs provide the tuition and stipend. And it takes r years of med school, about 2-4 for phd and then you still have residency program requirements so it is a huge committment.</p>
<p>there are other scholarships for oos students i think, but i didnt look into them as we are in state. but also remember the TOTAL cost is 20K which includes room and board…so about 14K out of pocket if you got the 6K merit</p>
