Questions about UCSD in general.

One question I have about UCSD deals with cost (including but not limited to tuition and housing costs/boarding). I have heard that overall, it comes out to be about $20,000 per year. Assuming that to be the case, does UCSD provide incoming freshmen with generous grants to help offset the costs? Based on the experience of current UCSD students, how much money in the form of grants/scholarships did you receive as incoming freshmen? Also, another question I have is what GPA UCSD uses. I am currently in the class of 2006 and my counselor told me that the UC GPA will be abandoned by the time I apply to UC schools. If that is the case, do you guys know if UCSD will use the 9-12 academic GPA or 10-12 academic GPA? Thank you in advance! Oh, by the way, I am interested in pre-med... I suppose that I could post my stats later... maybe after I take the New SAT and get my scores back. Thanks again!

UCSD uses the UC gpa, a special formula, basically it's taking your core classes from 10-11th grades, and capping the extra honors/AP points at 8 semesters. I don't know if this will be abandoned, but I would imagine not..why would it be?
